Come and explore the history and wildlife of Cirencester’s Roman Amphitheatre on Saturday 9th September. There will be a tour and talk around the amphitheatre, both morning and afternoon, with a ‘Bat Walk’ in the evening.

DAY TIME HISTORY WALKS (10.30 & 14.30) – Volunteer guides from AQIVA (Friends of the Amphitheatre, Querns Wood and IV Acre Field) will take you on a tour of the amphitheatre, explain its history and how it fitted into the culture of Roman Corinium and the wider Roman Empire. Included in the tour is a look at the 18th century Obelisk adjacent to the amphitheatre.

All tours will start from the car park at the Obelisk on Cotswold Avenue. Please note that there are no toilet or refreshment facilities at the Amphitheatre. The site is steep in places, uneven and exposed so please wear stout footwear and clothing appropriate for the weather conditions.

Children are welcome but must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
